Evaluation of the Child Maintenance Options Service

Jan 2011 |

About this study

The Child Maintenance and Enforcement Commission (CMEC) has introduced a new service for separated parents, the Child Maintenance Options Service. This service aims to provide impartial information and support to parents in relation to child maintenance. We have been commissioned by CMEC to evaluate this new service and see to what extent parents have been able to make child maintenance arrangements following their contact with the service.

Timeline

Evaluation of the Child Maintanence Options

Potential policy impact

Funded by the Child Maintenance and Enforcement Commission, our evaluation will feed into the future development of the Commission's Child Maintenance Options Service.

Method

We will be interviewing separated parents who have used the Options Service shortly after their contact with the service, and again six months later. In the interview will ask questions about the respondent's family, contact with the service, child maintenance arrangements and demographics. We will conduct around 4500 initial telephone interviews with parents and around 3000 follow-up interviews.
