Scotland's leading centre for social research
NatCen has a strong commitment to research that reflects the distinctive characteristics of the social, political and economic environment in Scotland. The Scottish Centre for Social Rescearch, established in 2004, quite deliberately faces in two directions at once. It is an integral part of NatCen, drawing on and contributing to the wider organisation. But it is also a distinctively Scottish presence, rooted in local policy and research networks.
Our team of 18 research staff in Edinburgh includes a wide range of substantive and methodological expertise and has a long track record of work for the Scottish Government and other local funding organisations. But we are also able to draw on the experience and capacity of colleagues in NatCen and we share - across the organisation as a whole – a commitment to work that is rigorous, grounded, ethically conducted and effectively communicated.
