About this job

Telephone interviewer's are based in Brentwood, Essex.

The telephone interviewer’s ultimate aim is to conduct computer assisted telephone interviews(CATI). This involves interviewing individuals in private households, as well as employers and other organisational representatives

Telephone interviewers work set shifts with a supervisor or team leader always present and their performance is monitored on a regular basis.

After completing initial training a telephone interviewer’s work will involve:

  • Attending project briefings

  • Using a desktop computer and telephone to conduct telephone interviews

  • Attending training as and when required

  • A commitment to NatCen’s policies and quality procedures for freelancers

Practical requirements

You need to:

  • Be willing and able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

  • Have the right to work in the UK and documentation to support this

  • Have a good standard of written and spoken English for use in a business environment

  • Provide satisfactory references

Personal skills

  • Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills

  • The ability to work to agreed deadlines

  • Positive and self motivated individuals

  • Telephone Interviewers who present NatCen in a professional manner
