Emily Tanner
Researcher

Emily is a Research Director in the Children and Young People Team. She has over 10 years experience in education research spanning nursery age to early adulthood. Emily specializes in quantitative methods and impact evaluations and her work feeds directly into policy development at a central government level.

Emily is currently leading on the first strand for the Evaluation of Children's Centres in England and the quantitative analysis for the Evaluation of the South West Healthy Schools Plus programme. Other current projects include the Evaluation of the Free School Meals Pilots and work for the Centre for Understanding Behaviour Change (both for DfE). Emily reported recently on the Evaluation of Every Child a Reader which found positive impacts of an intensive reading intervention on children in Key Stage 1 (read Emily's blog on the matter here).

Before joining NatCen, Emily held research posts at Yale University and at Oxford, where she also completed a DPhil in social policy.
