Gary Boodhna
Researcher

Gary is a mixed method researcher working in the health and well being team. Since joining NatCen Social Research in 2010 he has worked on a variety of projects. These have included the Health Survey for England, a consultation exercise for the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence around the development of guidance for increasing the uptake of HIV testing in men who have sex with men and a consultation for the mental health charity Mind to aid the development of their three year strategy.

Currently he is working on the National Diet and Nutrition Survey which is designed to assess the diet, nutrient intake and nutritional status of the general population. In addition to this he is also working with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine on a study Commissioned by the National Institute of Health Research to test the efficacy of the BCG vaccination against tuberculosis.

Gary's day to day activities are varied and amongst other things these include; questionnaire design and testing, monitoring response rates and performance, training interviewers, analysing data and reporting findings.

Prior to joining NatCen Gary completed an undergraduate degree with honours in sociology from the University of Glasgow before receiving a masters in social research from the University of Edinburgh School of Social and Political Science.
