
Michelle is a Research Director in the Questionnaire Design and Testing (QDT) Hub, specialising in questionnaire development and testing. Michelle has experience in cognitive interviewing and behaviour coding methods as well as qualitative skills such as in-depth interviewing and facilitating focus groups. Michelle has worked on numerous projects using cognitive interviewing methods including: the development and testing of a new survey measures of the choices and constraints around Lone parents and work, which were used in wave 8 of the Families And Children Survey (FACS) 2006, the development and testing of a new module of questions around Social Care receipt and provision among those aged 65+ and the development, design and testing of questions for Understanding Society (Waves 1 and 3). Michelle has six years worth of experience in training NatCen researchers and field interviewers in cognitive interviewing methods and questionnaire design. Michelle has a degree in Applied Social Sciences (Criminology) from the University of Southampton.
