Rachel works in the Health and Wellbeing Group and is the Research Director of the Health Survey for England, which combines interviewer and nurse data to provide a comprehensive view of the nation's health. She co-edits the survey's annual report with collaborators at UCL, and oversees day-to-day project management and survey design. Rachel works closely with clients at The NHS Information Centre and Department of Health to make sure the survey covers key areas of health policy, as well as providing long term trends of important health indicators. She also liaises with many people who use the survey data for further analyses.
Rachel has extensive experience of using bio-markers in surveys, both the more traditional route of using nurses to collect a number of measurements and samples, and more recent development in the range of measures taken by interviewers. She has been involved in both nurse and interviewer bio-marker collection on Understanding Society.
