What do you think?

Why we need you

By taking part in the British Social Attitudes survey you have your say on social issues that affect you, reveal what it's like to live in Britain today, and tell us what you think about how Britain is run.

The British Social Atittudes survey has been carried out almost every year since 1983. Like its sister survey, Scottish Social Attitudes, the British Social Attitudes survey helps policy makers and the third sector understand the views of the public and how these have changed over time.

Findings from the survey receive considerable coverage in the media and are also used in schools and universities for educational purposes.

If you have been invited to take part in the survey this means your address has been randomly selected from a list supplied by the Post Office. This list covers the whole of Britain.

By selecting people in this way we make sure everyone has a fair chance of taking part in the survey and the results are representative of the British population. To ensure accurate results, we need the help of the people chosen for the survey - no one else can take your place.
