Research on the Acas Statutory Code of Practice on Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures
Thank you for your interest in taking part in an interview for the research study on the Acas Statutory Code of Practice on Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures. This page contains further details about the study and what taking part will involve.
About this study
This research seeks to understand how the Code of Practice is working from the perspective of employees who have been through a disciplinary or grievance situation since April 2009. If you fit this description we would really like to hear about your experience of your disciplinary or grievance case in a one-off hour long telephone interview. This will help to shape Acas' thinking about future Codes in this area. If you would like to know more about the study, further information about the research can be found here.
How do I get involved?
If you think you would like to take part and are happy to be
contacted to discuss the research, please register your interest by
telephoning NatCen free, direct and in confidence on 0808
168 1341 or by emailing NatCen on employeecodeofpracticeresearch@natcen.ac.uk.
Once you have registered interest a member of the NatCen research
team will contact you within one week and will be happy to answer
any questions you may have. If at that point you're still
interested in participating, you will be asked for some basic
information about yourself and some brief details about your
disciplinary or grievance case. NatCen is asking for this
information about potential interviewees to ensure that we include
a range of different people and circumstances. This will allow us
to have a suitable balance of participants by characteristics like
sector, size of employer and types of disciplinary and grievance
situation. For this reason it is possible that we will not be able
to carry out an interview with everyone who is interested in taking
part in the research.
Who will know I've taken part?
NatCen and Acas are completely independent of your employer. Although your employer has agreed to assist us in this study by informing all staff working in your organisation about the research we will not be in touch with your employer about the research again. Nobody outside of NatCen will know who has taken part; NatCen will not identify participants to your employer or Acas.
What will happen to the information collected?
Any information you give in the interview will be held in the
strictest confidence by NatCen and will be handled in accordance
with the Data Protection Act. Participating in the research is
completely voluntary and confidential.
