About the study
The results from the 2010-11 survey provide continued insight into how the Government's matched funding scheme has affected English Universities' fundraising performance.
The Ross-CASE series of surveys are the only accurate source of information on the long-term health of philanthropic funding in the Higher Education sector.
The survey was first carried out in 2001-02 and NatCen has run the survey since 2006-07. You can read the findings for 2009-10, 2008-09, 2007-08, and 2006-07 here. The Ross-CASE survey is commissioned by the Ross Group and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).
Potential Policy Impact
The Government will use these findings to continue their assessment of the impact of their three-year £200 million matched-funding scheme, which started in August 2008. By matching philanthropic donations to Universities in England, the Government hopes to boost the fundraising performance of the Higher Education sector.
Every Higher Education Institution in the UK was invited to complete a questionnaire which could be downloaded from our dedicated website.
