About the study

The Workplace Employment Relations Study (WERS) is part of a series stretching back to 1980. In 2004, topical subjects included the Working Time Directive, the National Minimum Wage and employment rights legislation enacted in 1999 and 2002.

Every survey is reported in a main 'sourcebook', but also attracts the interest of numerous secondary analysts and commentators. You can:

Methodology

In 2004, the cross-section survey interviewed 2,295 managers, while the panel covered 956 continuing establishments. There were 985 interviews with employee representatives. Financial managers at 1,070 establishments provided a financial performance questionnaire. There were 22,451 self-completion questionnaires (SEQs) returned by employees.
